Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS Scheme)

Managed by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, the Seniors Alert Scheme is available to over 65’s, and covers the cost of having a socially monitored alarm installed in your home. The only cost to the individual is TASK's €66 yearly charge for around the clock monitoring.

For those wanting to avail of the scheme, the easiest way is to contact your local community group or Muintir na Tíre.

Muintir na Tíre, the national voluntary organisation promoting community development in Ireland, runs more than 1,400 Community Alert Schemes which play an invaluable role in securing Seniors Alert grants for older people. They can offer support and advice about the scheme and encourage anyone with questions to contact them.

The Department of the Environment can also be contacted directly to find out which community groups in your local area are registered to apply for grants. Also, for groups who want to provide emergency alarms for older people, but are not yet registered, this is a straightforward process and can be done by contacting Muintir na Tíre or the Department.
